LIKE ANYONE who’s been a designer for a while, my foundation was in print. Digital work has added many challenging layers and dimensions to the craft. Because I wanted to learn HTML and CSS, I created my first site (my own site) by hand-coding it. I also hand-coded a site for a small business. But as these websites demanded more functionality and features (mobile-friendly design, registration capability) it became impractical to use hand-coding only. In 2015, I started working with WordPress. I love the structure and capability it provides, while still allowing virtually unlimited customization, with your own CSS and HTML.
